Introduction
Equi ("the app") is an application for managing shared expenses. This privacy policy describes the personal data we collect through the Equi app and the getequi.com website, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. The data controller is Equi, reachable at contact@getequi.com.
Data We Collect
- Account data: when you create an account, we store your username, email address, a hash of your password, and your language preference.
- Home and revenue data: the names of your homes, member lists, revenue source labels and amounts, and split configurations.
- Expense data: descriptions, amounts, categories, dates, recurrence settings, and split assignments.
- Device data: a push notification token, used to send you notifications.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to provide the shared-expense service: calculating expense splits, computing balances between members of the same home, keeping data synchronized between members, sending push notifications, and sending account-related emails such as email verification, password reset, and invitations.
Storage and Retention
Your data is stored on Equi servers and mirrored locally in the app's database on your device to support offline mode. Your data is retained until you delete your account.
Sharing of Your Data
The Expo push notification service is the only third party that receives your data: your device push token, solely to deliver notifications. We use no advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs, and we never sell your personal data.
Your Rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the in-app account settings. You can also disable push notifications at any time in the app. For any other request concerning your data, please contact us.
Security
Passwords are stored hashed, data is transmitted over HTTPS, and we apply reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
